This name came to Dr. Calvin Lee as he attending an acupuncture conference in San Francisco at the Cathedral Hill Hotel. As we are writing this, we went to the Cathedral Hill Hotel website and noticed that they are ceasing operations on October 31, 2009. Cathedral Hill Hotel has been in operations for over 50 years. Please check your sources regarding this info (this is sad news - hopefully this is a bad dream?)
Regardless, the idea came at night and was scribbled on a napkin with a primitive logo for the company which involved a scalpel in the logo. After seeing a scalpel in the logo, I changed it to a brush (see picture below).
However after thinking about the logo, it was later changed to a logo that depicted and conveyed a greater sense of plastic surgery.
Dr. Calvin Lee wanted a name that showed off the importance of Art in the precision of Surgery and thus the marriage of the words Surgical and Artistry. We are located in Modesto, CA and thus the name of our website is http://www.surgical-artistry-modesto.com which is rather long, but it would be even longer if we wrote in the words Modesto Plastic Surgery after Surgical-Artistry (it was tempting, but this wouldn't comfortably fit on a business card).
Dr. Tammy Wu - the plastic surgeon of Surgical Artistry thought the name was great and the rest was history. Dr. Calvin Lee is a general surgeon who in addition to General Surgery, specializes in Veins, Acupuncture, and Botox treatments.
